Plot Synopsis:

After watching Merlino, the Magician perform his act, Mark went backstage and found Merlino's hat. When he touched it, the hat began to grow in size. While looking inside the hat, Mark fell inside it and ended up in Lidsville, a land filled with living hats.

Throughout the series, Mark made several attemts to make his way home. Trying to prevent Mark's departure was Hoo Doo, the Magician, who wrecked havok with his gang of bad hats. Mark was assited in his efforts by Weenie, the Genie and the various good hats. Mark rescued Weenie from the clutches of Hoo Doo by taking the magic ring, which gave the owner the power to order/control Weenie.



Comments:

This was the Krofft's third show. Like Pufnstuf, the show had an extended opening sequence, Billy Hayes (Pufnstuf's Witchiepoo), and a teenaged main character who attempted to return home throughout the series. Like Jack Wild in Pufnstuf, Butch Patrick was a familiar face for most of the viewers. He was best known for playing Eddie Munster on the Munsters. A popular character actor, Charles Nelson Reilly returned to Saturday morings in 1975 in the short lived Uncle Croc's Block.

(May 2008)Once again, a three hour block of Krofft shows, including Lidsville, are airing on cable in California. More information is available here.

Lidsville star Butch Patrick and Lidsville producer Marty Krofft will be appearing at the 2006 Dragon Con, in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1 - 4). In addition to Patrick and Krofft, there were will also be a ruenion of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters stars Johnny Whitaker, Scott Kolden, and Rip Taylor.

The Lidsville Box Set, containing every episode of the series, as well as commentary/interviews with the Kroffts, Charles Nelson Reilly, Butch Patrick, and Billie Hayes, was released on January 25, 2005.

Availability:
The Lidsville Box Set, containing every episode of the series, as well as commentary/interviews with the Kroffts, Charles Nelson Reilly, Butch Patrick, and Billie Hayes, was released on January 25, 2005.

The entire series is also available on DVD. Rhino's Handmade line released a vhs box set of Lidsville on vhs. However, there are no bonus features on the vhs box set.

Some episodes have been released on video. Lidsville, Vol. 1 has "Let's Hear It for Whizzo" and "Is There a Mayor in the House?" episodes. Additionally, the "Take Me To Your Rabbit" episode was included on the Krofft Box Set, which is available on VHS and DVD. The first episode is included on the upcoming Saturday Morning with Sid & Marty Krofft DVD, which also features the first episode of several other Krofft series.
